Motor Masters vs NeuroStrength: What’s the Difference?

At PhysioHealth Corrimal, we understand that people living with neurological conditions need more than just general exercise, they need targeted, specialised programs that address how the brain and body work together.

Based in the Wollongong region we offer two complementary classes: Motor Masters and NeuroStrength. While they are different in focus, they are designed to work best when completed together.

Our classes are designed by a PD warrior trained clinician, who strives in making all those with a neurological condition live their best life.

Motor Masters; Retraining Movement & Control

Motor Masters is designed specifically for people living with neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, stroke, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), Multiple Sclerosis, or Motor Neurone Disease.

This class focuses on how you move, not just how strong you are. They are designed with PD warrior movements in mind that target:

  • Coordination and motor control
  • Balance and postural stability
  • Agility and reaction time
  • Weight shifting and spatial awareness

The goal is to improve the connection between the brain and body. Re-wiring the synaptic neurons and training them to recognise movement patterns. They help participants move with greater confidence, safety, and efficiency in everyday life.

NeuroStrength; Building Functional Capacity for Daily Life

NeuroStrength complements Motor Masters by focusing on the physical strength and endurance needed to support independence.

This class targets:

  • Functional strength for everyday tasks
  • Walking capacity and stamina
  • Transfers (such as getting up from chairs or bed)
  • Postural strength and stability
  • Fatigue management and physical resilience

The aim is to make daily activities easier, reduce physical strain, and help people maintain independence for longer.

Why They Work Best Together

Neurological rehabilitation requires both:

  • Quality of movement (coordination, balance, control)
  • Physical capacity (strength, endurance, function)

Motor Masters retrains movement patterns, while NeuroStrength builds the strength needed to sustain them.

Together, they provide a complete and holistic approach to neurological exercise rehabilitation.

Who Are These Classes Suitable For?

These classes are ideal for individuals who:

  • Have a neurological condition
  • Are able to walk independently (with or without an aid)
  • Can follow simple instructions in a small group setting
  • May find standard gym or exercise classes too challenging

They are designed for people who are functional but need specialised support to improve safety, confidence, and independence.

Our Goal

Our goal is simple: to help people with neurological conditions move better, stay stronger, and live more independently through evidence-based, supportive, and empowering exercise programs.

Classes are run Tuesdays & Thursdays at 11:00am. See our Timetables to book.

These classes are led by our experienced  exercise physiology team and are suitable for people at different stages of Parkinson’s. Exercises can be adapted to suit where you’re at, and you’ll never be pushed beyond what feels right for you.

Good movement. Good people. And plenty of encouragement along the way.
