TMJ/Jaw Physiotherapy

Jaw pain, clicking, clenching, headaches and facial tension can all be linked to the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). At PhysioHealth, our TMJ physiotherapy service looks beyond just the jaw itself. We assess how the jaw, neck, cranium and surrounding muscles are working together to help identify what may be driving your symptoms and why they keep hanging around.

The jaw does not work in isolation. The TMJ is closely connected to the neck and shoulder, which means jaw dysfunction can show up not only as jaw pain, facial pain, or difficulty chewing and opening, but also as headaches, neck pain, and shoulder pain.

Treatment may include gentle hands-on therapy, exercises, dry needling, advice around clenching and overuse habits, and strategies to improve movement, reduce tension and settle irritation. We assess how your jaw opens and closes, how the muscles and joints are behaving, and whether other areas may be adding extra load to the system. Our goal is to help you feel more comfortable with eating, talking, yawning and everyday life, without your symptoms constantly demanding attention.
