More than often the success of your surgery doesn’t finish the moment you leave the hospital. The initial steps of your successful surgical outcome are performed by your surgeon. However, you’ll have to do a bit of work in the form of exercises to optimise your results.
To get you moving in hospital a Physiotherapist will prescribe some simple exercises to minimise complications such as chest infection or DVT’s. This may include some early strengthening or range of motion exercises. From hospital you may go to inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation. This again is just the beginning of your recovery.
Depending on the type of surgery, and your capacity to heal, recovery can take up to 3 or 4 months. During this time it’s important to see a Physiotherapist, experienced in post operative rehabilitation, to work together, to get you back to your full health.
At PhysioHealth & Sports Injury Clinic we will work with you to develop a rehab program to ensure you make the best possible recovery in the quickest time.
